We are thrilled to share our progress in achieving the next milestone in our Transforming Tomorrow Together Capital Campaign and Construction Project. We are completing the schematic design phase of our new building in collaboration with Richardson Smith Architects and have chosen our construction management company. These important steps bring us closer to realizing our vision of expanding services and creating a stronger impact in our community.
Throughout this phase, our architects and project team have worked diligently to develop the foundational design plans that align with our mission and the needs of those we serve. Their efforts have brought us to a pivotal moment—one where the foundational design plans are in place, aligned with our mission, and set to create a welcoming, functional, and empowering space for all who come through our doors.
As we move into the next phase of design development, we remain committed to thoughtful planning and collaboration. However, like many construction projects across the country, we’ve encountered rising costs due to current market conditions. To continue moving forward, we now face a $1.8 million funding gap. But with your help, we can close this gap and ensure the project stays on track.

Richardson Smith Architects is in the final steps of completing the schematic design with the increase of square footage to 9.600 square feet, up from the original 7,500 square feet.
Decision was made to include the additional square footage for the new facility to be designed to support the current and future needs of YWCA Princeton.

Original cost of demolition estimate was $90,000. Due to the extensive asbestos found, the actual costs were $130,950.
A construction management Service partnership was secured between Princeton Design Guild (Kelvin Wilkes, Managing Partner) and Massimino Building Corporation (R.C. Massimino, President).
A Value Engineering Process will be occurring to identify potential savings in the construction process to reduce overall construction costs.

The original Capital Campaign Goal in 2019 was two phases fundraising $4.8 million
Phase I - Renovation of program building completed in 2020 at cost of $2,580,000
Phase II - Demolition of Bramwell House and construction of new building $2,300,000
The YWCA Princeton Board of Directors approved budget in 2022 was for $2.2 million for Reimagining Bramwell, included the limited contract with RSA.

Future of Bramwell
Creating a building for the future is no easy task. As the Princeton area grows and transforms, we must meet the times. Our new program building will feature a large community space complete with A/V essentials to host documentary screenings or panelists events with audiences up to 100 participants, flexible classrooms to be used to continue to deliver our essential ESL and workforce development programming, and so much more. Bramwell House
For decades, Bramwell House served as a pillar of community. The iconic red building on Route 206 housed our Breast Cancer Resource Center, English as a Second Language classes, and served as the main meeting space for the Newcomers & Friends. As the community continues to evolve, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the region though a variety of comprehensive, targeted programs focused on achieving our mission to eliminate racism and empower women.
Now, we are at a turning point. We must modernize our spaces and refine our program offerings to prepare for the next generation. Doing so will better serve, in a more holistic manner, those who come to us by deepening and broadening our impact on the thousands of lives that we touch. At this pivotal moment, we seek to build our future by strengthening our campus and service offerings to stay true to our mission.
